If you are looking for a summer-friendly, comfortable, pretty dress – look no further!
I bought this dress on a whim while out shopping one day. I’d gone into H&M to look for maternity pyjamas (turns out they didn’t have any), and went for a quick look through their maternity range.
Now that my belly is bigger, I can properly fit into maternity wear, and was excited to see what was around.
I saw this hanging up, and thought it maybe looked a bit plain. Then I felt the fabric, and fell in love.
This dress is made from 100% Tencel Lyocell – according to their website, “Textiles of TENCEL® fibers are more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen.” I have to say I agree. It feels like a super soft cotton!
Seriously, I felt like I was wearing pyjamas all day!
And it is a very cool fabric. I live in Brisbane, and our summers are notorious for being very hot and very humid, so I’ll be interested to see how this dress fares the hotter days. I wore it two days in a row (without washing, scandal I know!) and didn’t get hot at all on either day.
It is so lightweight and comfortable, but it isn’t in the least bit see-through. A problem I’ve found with many lighter fabrics is that you can see through them, and that is a big no-no for someone who works with teenagers daily.
The band around the middle is firm but not tight, and didn’t feel like it was restricting me at any point. The length is good for me as well – being tall (5’8″), I often find dresses sit a bit too short on my legs, but this one is a great length for me. The buttons do come open, so this dress could easily be used when breastfeeding – if it lasts that long I’ll update this post to let you know how that works out.
I think it’ll be easy to jazz up a bit if I wanted to, with a chunky necklace or broach or belt. Wearing it with sandals or dressier shoes will work well too, same with a jacket or cardigan. It is very versatile!
I will definitely be wearing this dress to school and on the weekends. My only regret is they don’t have it in other colours, or maybe with some embroidery or pattern!
Oh yea, and it has pockets!! Good sized ones too – you can see from the pictures I have my entire hands fitting in them.
While in Aus you can’t buy products from H&M online, here is a link to the dress on their website anyway.
